About the North Shore Swamp Tour

Explore the Tchefuncte River and its many tributaries meandering through marshes and flooded forests. Our small yet roomy flat bottom boat ensures you get one-on-one interactions with your local guide with ample time to ask all the questions you can think of! The quiet 4-stroke motor doesn’t scare the wildlife away, allowing us to get deeper into the swamp than we would expect unless we were kayaking! Learn more, see more, and impact less with Beyond the Bayou Tours!

Why Choose our Madisonville Swamp & Marsh Tour on Tchefuncte River?

We are one of the few swamp tours in Louisiana that doesn’t feed animals. We are a genuine eco-friendly company. We believe in respecting the environment and raising awareness of the threats facing this valuable wetland region.

Our unique route navigates through shallow waters, getting deeper into the swamp than most tours can get. The isolated areas provide a chance to see native and migratory species acting as nature intended due to lower residential and commercial boat traffic.

Our fuel-efficient motor is quiet to ensure we don’t disturb wildlife. Our boat is equipped with comfortable captain chairs that swivel 360 degrees. Our maximum group size of six ensures you relax and fully immerse yourself in our beautiful area. Be sure to ask all the questions you want! We provide an educational tour that leaves you with a deeper understanding of what makes this ecosystem so unique.

Madisonville’s biodiversity, historical relevance, and being surrounded mainly by state and federally-protected wildlife management areas will never disappoint even the most traveled guests. Keep your eyes peeled as you slowly move through narrow canals surrounded by cypress trees draped with Spanish moss, looking for gators, great blue herons, bald eagles, owls, deer, wild pigs, and turtles. Birdwatchers love the diversity of native and migratory species! You may see woodpeckers, fishing birds, and migratory songbirds that live out here both in our narrow canals and large open-water lakes. Learn about the wildlife, the local history, culture, and even the legend of the Rougarou, the Cajun swamp monster!
