Chicago Tribune Highlights our Cajun Country Tours!
We are proud to announce that our Cajun tours were highlighted in the Chicago Tribune’s Travel section, alongside other recommended adventures in their “Travel Tidbits” column. Check out the article here!
It is an honor for us to be included in this highly regarded publication and curated a list of tour operators. Author Phil Marty writes that we “pack huge doses of Cajun culture into just four days of touring in central Louisiana”. We completely agree it’s hard to believe how much action we can fit into just four days!
This region was settled in the 1760’s by exiled communities from French Canada and has developed a unique culture separate from the famous Creole culture of New Orleans. They have their own music, language, and cuisine, and the area has much more of a down-home country vibe. There’s no better way to get an up close and personal experience with the wildlife, music, food, and people that make this area so magical. And the best part is that all our tours begin and end in New Orleans with all transportation included, so all you have to do is fly into the city and we take care of the rest! This way you can spend some time in New Orleans before or after your tour, and get to experience two completely different Louisiana cultures on the same trip!
What Makes Our Cajun Tours Special?
We have spent years scouting out the best locations, activities, and guides that the Acadiana region has to offer. Our partners are all independently owned businesses, run by people who have grown up here and can give you a firsthand look at the Cajun lifestyle. Visit the music studio of Zydeco legend Nathan Williams and tour an organic pecan farm. For more outdoor activity: enjoy a flatboat tour of Lake Martin Wildlife Refuge and take a guided paddle down the Bayou Teche, the area’s famous and historic waterway. Our guides are born and raised in the area and love sharing their experiences and unique culture with our guests.
Cajun Culture is the Star of the Show
Ever wondered how to make a classic Louisiana dish like Jambalaya, Gumbo or Etouffee? Our chef will show you how the locals do it. If you are not into cooking, hang out with a refreshing Southern cocktail or craft beer and watch how he prepares your private seafood boil right there on the property. The sights, sounds, and flavors of the region are on full display on our Cajun tours. Are you a music enthusiast? Come tour the home studio of Zydeco legend Nathan Williams, or visit Eunice to see how the world famous Cajun accordions are made. We also love taking guests out to see live shows in town – go out and dance up a storm, or take it easy by a private pond roasting marshmallows on the bonfire.
